New Years in Indonesia

Hey guys,

Well we teach English at a university here in Indonesia. We teach at a hospital and also one class at the church too. We teach anyone that wants to learn and we give out cards to everyone. It is a way to talk to people. We have a book that the mission couples put together for us with English activities and lessons in it, so we teach from a big book.

We actually live in a house not an apartment. It is really big for only two people. In our house we don’t actually have beds we just have mattresses that we have on the floor. All the showers are broken in the house. Which aren’t really showers they are basins that you fill up, but any ways we shower out of a bucket. We really aren’t there very often we leave by llam after study and are back at 9pm. We live in a fairly big subdivision. There are lots of people. Our area has a little over 1 million people in it, so that is 1 million people between two elders. We have our work cut out for us.

Well there are many islands here in Indonesia and the land of Indonesia is the same length as the United States. So when they say there was an earthquakethere are a lot of places it could be. No there wasn’t an earthquake in my area. They might say something about it tonight. We are going back to Jakarta for a zone activity. We are going to the beach. It should be fun and I willtake lots of pictures. (One of Kyle's friends called Trish and said that there had been an earthquake in Indonesia, and was wondering if Kyle was ok...of course Trish asked Kyle about it in the email :0)

We have been teaching a lot of lessons, we have taught over ten lessons the last two weeks and we had 5 investigators at church on Sunday. We are doing really great. My language is still struggling behind right now but it is getting better. The food here tastes really good for the most part, but it is just so different that it taste good in my mouth but my stomach doesn’t know what is going on. Lots of rice, I have eaten rice with every meal. Sometimes you eat it as a meal. I have eaten lots of new fruits one that is really good is ramputan. It is like a big grape.

Love you,
Elder Kyle
